THE QUEUE

The Queue explores simplicity at its most reduced. A vast field of blue becomes the ocean, interrupted only by subtle textured lines and a handful of ultra-minimal figures waiting quietly between the waves.

The piece was created as part of my search for a more minimal visual language — reducing each surfer to just a few tiny strokes while still preserving posture, movement and personality. Their colourful boards become almost imperceptible details against the scale of the blue surrounding them.

Here, the colour takes over. Blue is not simply the background, but the main subject of the painting: an open, calm and almost endless space in which the figures seem deliberately small. The Queue is about that contrast — between texture and detail, emptiness and presence, the vastness of the sea and the tiny people waiting for the next wave.
